Pray for: Afghanistan

This month we are praying for the country of Afghanistan, a place where it is impossible to live openly as a Christian and there is no safe way to express faith other than as a Muslim. It remains in second place on the World Watch List, meaning the only place in the world with more persecution is North Korea. But, it’s also the country with the world’s second fastest growing evangelical church! We want to partner with what God’s doing and saturate the country with prayer over the next few weeks.

We contacted a friend who works in the country and over the next month, we will be praying over different people she has shared with and is in contact with.

WEEK 1

Hannah – She got married when she was about 16 years old. At first, her husband was nice, but after she got pregnant, he became controlling and violent. When she talked to her family about it, they said it was her fault. He eventually became a drug addict. They had five children – one girl and four boys (one died at 6 months). They got divorced several years ago. A divorced woman has one of the lowest places in this society. She now works at our office as the cleaning lady. We have been able to share a lot with her over the past few years. We also gave her an MP3 player with the New Testament in her language (she is illiterate). She told me that her life was terrible before she came to work at our office, but it is better now. Please pray that she will see herself as loved by God and accept forgiveness and new life in Jesus.

Ephesians 3:16-19 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
