Why Should Christians Care about Ramadan?

Dr. David Garrison, missiologist and author, describes unprecedented movements of Muslims into the Christian faith since the early 1990s. Garrison found that in the fourteen hundred years since the beginnings of Islam, about 80 percent of those movements have happened in the last 30 years!

In Garrison’s words, “We’re seeing a moment in salvation history … that we’ve never seen before in the history of Christianity’s interaction with the House of Islam.”1

Do you know what other movement has been growing in the last 30 years? The prayer movement for the Muslim world! That’s no coincidence, people!

This month especially, let’s strategize our prayers along with the Ramadan 30-day calendar:

  • First 10 days: A time of forgiveness when Allah forgives sins.
  • Second 10 days: A period of mercy when Allah shows his mercy to faithful Muslims.
  • Third 10 days: A period of escape from hell when God delivers those who do Ramadan well.
